Cardiovascular and Respiratory Effects of Romifidine and/or Xylazine in Ketamine Anaesthesia in Dog: An Experimental Study
Authors
Abstract:
Objective: To compare romifidine and xylazine premedication in ketamine anesthesia of the dog. Design: Experimental design. Animals: Fifteen cross-breed dogs. Procedures: Animals randomly allocated into three groups of five. Group G1 premedicated by xylazine 1 mg/kg, G2 romifidine 40 µg/ kg and G3 romifidine 80 µg/ kg intramuscularly. All animals premedicated with atropine 0.02 mg/kg subcutaneously ten minutes before induction of anesthesia. Anesthesia was induced by 15 mg/kg ketamine IM. Heart rate, respiratory rate, mean arterial blood pressure and eclectrocardiac activity beside quality of anesthesia were evaluated. Results: No significant differences were found between three groups around all recorded parameters. Conclusions and Clinical relevance: Usage of different doses of romifidine in canine species is possible without any unexpected outcome, 80 µg/ kg of romifidine make better onset of anesthesia.

Effect of Xylazine and Ketamine on Pulse Rate, Respiratory Rate and Body Temperature in Dog
For surgical intervention, anesthesia is an indispensible and most important pre-requisite in both humans and animals, which provide safety and maximum performance for the surgeon. Effect of anaesthesia depends on route of administration [1]. For canine surgery, it is given through inhalation or parenteral route. Intravenous administration is preferred and considered the safe route for early in...
full textAnalgesic and cardiopulmonary effects of intrathecally administered romifidine or romifidine and ketamine in goats (Capra hircus).
The study was conducted to evaluate the effects of romifidine alone (50 microg/kg) and a combination of romifidine (50 microg/kg) and ketamine (2.5 mg/kg) after intrathecal administration in goats. Ten adult goats of either sex weighing between 15 and 20 kg were randomly placed in 2 groups (groups I and II). The agents were administered at the lumbosacral subarachnoid space. Clinico-physiologic...
full textComparative evaluation of clinical efficiency of intramuscular diazepam-ketamine, medetomidine-ketamine, and xylazine-ketamine anaesthesia in Ring-necked pheasants (Phasianus colchicus)
Background: Several injectable anaesthetics and sedatives are used in various avian species for general anaesthesia. Birds are very sensitive animals and any mismanagement in a crisis can lead to immediate shock and death. Therefore, careful selection of the safest possible anaesthetic agent and dose is very important. Aims: The aim of this study was to examine...

Objectives: To evaluate if epidural administration of xylazine could decrease the effective dose of intravenous ketamine for maintenance of general anesthesia in laparoscopic procedures and assessment of related complications during anesthesia. Design: Experimental Study. Animals: 20 Female dogs with 21.0 ± 3.0 kg weight and 18.0 ± 1.2 months age. Material and methods: Animals randomly divid...
full textdevelopment and implementation of an optimized control strategy for induction machine in an electric vehicle
in the area of automotive engineering there is a tendency to more electrification of power train. in this work control of an induction machine for the application of electric vehicle is investigated. through the changing operating point of the machine, adapting the rotor magnetization current seems to be useful to increase the machines efficiency. in the literature there are many approaches wh...
15 صفحه اولa contrastive study of rhetorical functions of citation in iranian and international elt scopus journals
writing an academic article requires the researchers to provide support for their works by learning how to cite the works of others. various studies regarding the analysis of citation in m.a theses have been done, while little work has been done on comparison of citations among elt scopus journal articles, and so the dearth of research in this area demands for further investigation into citatio...
